PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department fulfilled the long-standing demand of the Young Doctor Association and announced a 40-50 percent increase in salaries of Medical officers in government hospitals.
Talking to media persons, the Young Doctors’ Spokesman thanked office bearers who played a role in making this protest successful. He said that they are thankful to the provincial government specially health secretary, who played a vital role in meeting their demand. He said that this approval will now be handed over to the finance department, where final approval will be needed.
“We demanded an increase in salaries. In this regard, we thank the Health Secretary who played a very positive role and formally prepared two summaries of 40 percent and 50 percent, approved them from the Health Department, and forwarded them. He has also promised us that tomorrow he himself and the Health Minister will go to Finance and discuss this with Finance, and hoped that Finance will also approve it.
“We hope that they will fulfil their promise now. The promise we had made that we would bring a 40 percent or 50 percent pay raise from the Health Department, Alhamdulillah, we have done that with the Health Department. Now we hope they are saying that the finance department will also increase the salaries of doctors. If the finance department does not increase the salaries, then the Young Doctors Association will be forced to protest once again,” he remarked.
