BANNU:  At least four people, including two children, were killed and 16 others injured after a violent storm accompanied by heavy rain caused widespread damage across Bannu district, officials said.

According to an initial report from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority PDMA, strong winds and torrential rain triggered multiple incidents of wall, house, and shop collapses in different areas of the district. The collapse of structures led to the deaths and injuries.

PDMA stated that among the four deceased were two men and two children. The injured include four men, five women, and seven children. All injured were shifted to nearby hospitals immediately for medical treatment, where their condition is being monitored.

The PDMA Emergency Operations Center said district administration and relevant agencies are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations in the affected areas. Teams are clearing debris, assisting families, and providing emergency aid.

A complete assessment of damages to homes, shops, and infrastructure is currently underway, PDMA added. Authorities have urged residents to avoid weak structures and stay indoors during severe weather.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been experiencing extreme weather patterns this season, with sudden storms causing damage in several districts. Officials say they will release updated figures once the damage survey is complete.
