LAHORE: A TikToker’s dangerous stunt at Lahore Zoo has raised serious questions about security arrangements after he was filmed entering a restricted area and jumping into a lion’s enclosure to record a video for social media.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the man repeatedly entering prohibited areas near the lion’s enclosure and eventually getting inside the cage. The incident has sparked concern over the safety of both visitors and animals, while questions are also being raised about why security personnel allegedly failed to prevent the TikToker from entering the restricted area.
Zoo officials said a new security company is being hired to strengthen security measures and ensure better protection for visitors and animals. The incident is not the first time that a social media stunt has resulted in serious consequences.
Some times ago, a young TikToker in Swat died while reportedly filming a video when a pistol he was handling accidentally went off. The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Abu Bakar, a resident of the Shaheen Abad area of Saidu Sharif.
According to police, Abu Bakar accidentally shot himself while recording a video for TikTok. Police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident and shifted his body to Central Hospital Saidu Sharif.
The incidents have once again highlighted concerns over dangerous stunts being performed for social media content and the risks people can face in the pursuit of viral videos.
