DI KHAN: Five personnel, including a traffic policeman, were martyred, while one official was injured in two consecutive terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district.

The first incident took place near Mufti Mahmood Chowk, within the limits of Dera Town Police Station, where unknown armed men targeted a traffic police mobile van. According to local police, Constable Driver Muhammad Habib was martyred as a result of firing, while Head Constable Subhan Khan was seriously injured. 

The rescue team shifted the injured official and the body of the martyr to the Trauma Centre, Headquarters Hospital. After the incident, a heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area and started a search operation, however, no arrest was reported initially. According to police, this is the second attack on a traffic police mobile van in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 10 days.

The second incident occurred near Qureshi Mor, Abhaya Bridge, within the jurisdiction of Gomal University Police Station, where armed men opened fire on income tax officials.According to the police spokesperson, 4 income tax officials were martyred as a result of the firing, while the attackers managed to escape after the firing. 

The bodies of the martyred officials have been shifted to the Trauma Center of Civil Hospital. Police have collected evidence from the scene and started further investigation into the incident. Several incidents of terrorism have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent days

 

Earlier to this in Tank district’s Wazirabad area, three personnel were martyred and two passers-by were injured as a result of firing on a traffic police mobile van. According to police, the martyred officials include Constable Saleem Shah, Constable Gul Amin and Driver Fayaz Uddin. After firing, motorcycle-borne attackers fled and also took away the weapons of the police personnel.
