Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reached Tehran, where he will attend the funeral prayers of martyred Ayatollah Khamenei.

Iranian Interior Minister Sikandar Momeni received Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at Tehran Airport, while top Iranian civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.

Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also attended the reception, where top officials of both countries met and expressed mutual goodwill. Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif has also left for Iran on a one-day visit, where he will attend the funeral prayers and last rites of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Secretary General of the PPP Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will express heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership and the bereaved families and reiterate Pakistan’s complete solidarity with the brotherly Iranian nation in this hour of grief.
