A female journalist was misbehaved with and stopped from coverage during an event at the IM Sciences educational institution in Peshawar.
The media was invited for regular coverage at the event, however, Rani Andleeb, a female reporter from Pakhtun Digital, said in a conversation that she was stopped from reporting by the Chief Minister’s security staff.
According to reporter Rani Andleeb, she was not only stopped from coverage inside the hall but was also later prohibited from recording outside the hall. She said that when she asked Chief Minister Sohail Afridi about the situation of universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the security personnel then restricted her coverage.
The female journalist further said that if the government really claims democratic values and freedom for the youth, then such actions raise questions about what kind of freedom this is. Concerns are also being expressed in journalistic circles after the incident, however, no official position has been revealed in this regard.
