RAWALPINDI: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that the Pakistan Army carried out a decisive response to cross-border artillery firing by the Afghan Taliban.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, he stated that 274 terrorists were killed in the retaliatory operation, while 400 others were injured. He added that 73 posts were destroyed and 18 were seized during the action.

The DG ISPR further said that 115 tanks of the Afghan Taliban were also destroyed in the operation.

“All these targets were very carefully selected based on intelligence,” he said. “They were purely military targets, and great care was exercised to avoid any civilian collateral damage.”

He added that the targets included core headquarters of Afghan Taliban forces, brigade and battalion headquarters, sector headquarters, ammunition depots, logistic bases, and hideouts providing shelter to terrorists and their facilitators.

DG ISPR has termed the Afghan Taliban regime an “internationally recognised terrorist organisation,” holding it responsible for last night’s aggression against Pakistan.

He said the attack was carried out by a “master proxy” acting in coordination, collusion and support of a terrorist organisation.

“That is what happened last night,” the DG ISPR stated.

At the outset of his press conference, DG ISPR termed the Afghan Taliban regime “the master proxy of terrorist proxies operating out of Afghanistan”.

“This master proxy came into action last night and in coordination with the terrorists of Fitna al khwarij,” he added.

The military spokesperson, while detailing the operation in response to Afghanistan’s aggression, said that “so far, 12 brave sons of the soil have embraced martyrdom while safeguarding Pakistan’s territorial integrity.”

He added that 27 others were injured, while one soldier remains missing in action.

“First, we defeated India; the Afghan Taliban tasted the same medicine,” DG ISPR.

DG ISPR detailing the operation against the Afghan Taliban regime’s aggression said that the Pakistan Armed Forces gave them an “effective, immediate, and brutal response”.

“A well-deserved response to terrorists, their facilitators — the master proxy of terrorism in the region,” he added.

DG ISPR further said that the nation stood united behind the armed forces of Pakistan and expressed solidarity in difficult times.

DG ISPR says the Afghan Taliban regime must make a “clear choice” between supporting terrorist organisations or maintaining relations with Pakistan.

He stated that the regime should clearly define its stance and refrain from any support to militant groups, stressing the need for regional peace and stability.
