SHANGLA: A cholera outbreak in a small town of Bisham Tehsil has resulted in one death and affected 25 children.

According to locals, this outbreak has raised significant concerns about public health in the region. While health officials confirmed nearly 25 cholera cases, reported from a small town, Sadin of Bisham tehsil, during the last few days, including one fatality.

Dr Zafar Khan, Medical Superintendent of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Bisham, stated that 25 cholera patients have been admitted to the hospital, where they are receiving basic treatment. He also mentioned that if any patient’s condition appears critical, they are referred to Swat for further treatment.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the people of Shangla are calling on the administration to improve hospital facilities in response to this outbreak.

The number of dengue infected cases in the province rose to 3700 as 35 more patients infected with dengue virus were brought to the hospital in the last 24 hours, the health department said.

So far, 1044 cases have been reported from Charsadda, 377 from Peshawar, 343 from Mardan, 329 from Haripur and 299 from Mansehra, the health department said.  Meanwhile Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has decided to launch a special campaign to eliminate the dengue virus from the province and has directed all departments to implement the dengue action plan.
