ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of the National Assembly Ali Muhammad Khan has said a Charter of Democracy is possible if political stakeholders agree on the rules of the game through dialogue to prevent recurring political crises.

Speaking on a television programme, Khan welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s repeated offer for a Charter of Democracy, saying all political forces should sit together for talks. He added that the dialogue should also include representatives of the establishment to collectively define clear rules for the future.

Why not agree on a framework once and for all so that new disputes do not emerge every day? he said.

Ali Muhammad Khan described senior government figures, including Rana Sanaullah, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Ahsan Iqbal, as serious politicians capable of meaningful dialogue.

He also expressed confidence in Mahmood Khan Achakzai, saying the PTI leadership had endorsed supporting his mediation efforts.

The PTI leader further proposed reopening election results from 2013, 2018 and 2024, saying he would even support reopening the results of his own constituency.

However, he stressed that revisiting election results alone would not resolve Pakistan’s political challenges.

Addressing internal party affairs, he said those holding organisational positions in PTI should resolve party issues promptly, adding that internal disputes should be settled within 24 hours.

He also expressed concern over what he described as a lack of urgency among the party’s senior leadership regarding the release of PTI founder Imran Khan. He urged efforts to find a political and legal path for the former prime minister’s release.
