QUETTA: Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Tump tehsil of Balochistan’s Kech district and killed an alleged militant affiliated with the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), according to security sources.
The sources said the militant was attempting to flee to Iran through the Pakistan-Iran border when security forces launched the operation based on intelligence information.
According to security sources, the deceased militant was affiliated with the Shabbir alias Zareen and Ghalib alias Hamal groups of the BLF. The groups were allegedly involved in recent militant activities along the Pakistan-Iran border in the Mand area of Tump.
The sources said the group had allegedly attempted to open fire and carry out arson at a border crossing on September 22.
They further alleged that on September 24, the group carried out an improvised explosive device (IED) attack targeting a security forces patrol near the Mahir Post, injuring one personnel.
