ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified whether a child’s B-Form can be issued on the basis of the father’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) if the mother does not have her identity card.

Speaking on a NADRA podcast, spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali said the first step was to determine whether the mother’s CNIC had never been issued or was simply unavailable at the time of application.

He explained that if the mother’s CNIC had already been issued but she did not have it with her, the situation would not pose a major problem. Her identity could be verified through her CNIC number or biometric verification using fingerprints.

However, if the mother had never been issued a CNIC, obtaining the child’s B-Form could become more complicated, as the process requires complete family records and supporting information.

According to the spokesperson, the absence of the mother’s CNIC may also indicate that the parents’ marriage has not been registered in NADRA’s records. In such cases, a family number may not have been issued, potentially creating difficulties in registering the child and obtaining a B-Form.

NADRA’s clarification highlights the importance of completing the parents’ identity and family registration records to facilitate the issuance of a child’s B-Form.
