PESHAWAR: Former Pakistani cricketer Azhar Mahmood has joined Peshawar Zalmi as an assistant and bowling coach for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

According to the reports, Mahmood is likely to contribute significantly to the improvement of the bowling unit of the team as well as the technical skills of the players.

His presence is also likely to give opportunities for learning to not only the veteran players, but also the young players as well. While the players are being coached, Mahmood will impart his knowledge on bowling techniques, line and length, as well as planning strategically.

Sources also added that his leadership can add balance to the bowling department of Peshawar Zalmi and improve the performance of the team.

Fans have been welcoming the news of Mahmood’s appointment with the hope of strengthening the team with his guidance.

The inclusion of Mahmood in PSL 11 has been seen as a bonus for Peshawar Zalmi in terms of its bowling aspect.

PSL: Peshawar Zalmi clarifies position after Gurbaz’s withdrawal

Meanwhile, Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi has issued a clarification following the withdrawal of Afghan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from the league.

The franchise made an official announcement which revealed that they signed Gurbaz after they obtained all necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

According to Peshawar Zalmi, the team signed Gurbaz because he represented one of the top available players during the time when teams received their official player list. The franchise confirmed that they completed the signing process by following all required approved procedures.

The signing decision for the Afghan batter occurred because of standard professional criteria and cricketing specifications. Peshawar Zalmi confirmed that their action fully met all requirements of PSL regulations and PCB guidelines and league established framework.

The clarification came after reports and discussion surrounding Gurbaz’s withdrawal from the PSL.
