The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has passed the Right to Information Act and thrown dust in the eyes of the public and journalists. The law is in the books, not in the field.
The journalistic community is our brothers. We should treat them like brothers because they always keep us informed of the truth through their pen. Every attempt to suppress the pen that writes the truth is an attack on democracy.
The Awami National Party has always been a defender of freedom of the press, expression and constitutional rights. Bacha Khan also said that the power of the pen is greater than the sword. We stand with all journalists including Manzoor Hussain.
We demand that the provincial government and relevant agencies immediately stop the series of threats, notices of damages and retaliatory actions against journalists. Let journalists write the truth, let the public know the truth.
