DUBAI: In a thrilling eighth match of the Asia Cup 2025, Sri Lanka defeated Hong Kong by 4 wickets, solidifying their position in the tournament, while Hong Kong was eliminated after losing all three of their matches.
The match took place at the Dubai Cricket Stadium, where Hong Kong batted first and scored 149 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Team captain Nazakat Khan played a commendable innings, contributing 52 runs.
Sri Lanka successfully chased down the target of 150 runs, finishing with a total of 150 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the 19th over. Pathum Nissanka was instrumental in their victory, scoring an impressive 68 runs. Sri Lankan bowler Dushmantha Chameera also made a significant impact by taking two wickets.

Earlier, in the seventh match held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) triumphed over Oman by 42 runs, securing their first win in the event. Batting first, the UAE scored 172 runs for 5 wickets, with Captain Mohammad Wasim scoring a strong 69 runs and Alishan Sharfoo adding 51 runs. In response, Oman was all out for 130 runs in the 19th over.
