PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reaffirmed his government’s unwavering support for the Pakistan Army, stating that any act of aggression against the country, including from Afghanistan, would be met with a decisive response.

Speaking informally to reporters in Peshawar, CM Afridi emphasized that lasting peace in the region cannot be achieved without involving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in decision-making. He underscored that the province must be consulted on all matters related to Afghanistan and national security.

The chief minister said that if he is unable to meet the party founder soon, he will proceed with forming his cabinet after consultations with senior party members.

Afridi confirmed that the current chief secretary and inspector general of police would continue in their roles for the time being. He also shared that he had written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan requesting permission to meet the party founder and that his legal team would refile a petition in the Islamabad High Court after resolving technical objections.

“If we are denied access, we will resist,” the chief minister warned, adding that his government’s priorities include maintaining law and order, advancing development projects, and ensuring good governance.
