PESHAWAR: The Peshawar police have directed all officers and personnel to refrain from participating in political activities ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) long march scheduled for Sept 27.
According to a circular issued by the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), police personnel have been directed not to participate in any march, rally or public gathering, and to avoid directly or indirectly facilitating political activities.
The circular also prohibits the use of official vehicles, machinery and other government resources for political activities.
Police personnel have further been instructed not to force or pressure any individual to participate in a march, rally or public gathering.
The CCPO directed officers to immediately report any pressure from political leaders or public representatives to the relevant authorities.
The circular warned that violations of the instructions would result in strict departmental action, including major penalties.
All Peshawar police officers and personnel have also been directed to strictly comply with court orders. The instructions were issued in light of the Islamabad High Court’s Sept 14, 2026 order.
The police have further been directed to avoid immediate intervention in matters related to political activities and inform senior authorities instead.
