ISLAMABAD: Apple has introduced its new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, along with its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. Pakistani consumers can currently access the new devices mainly through importers and grey-market sellers, as Apple does not currently operate an official Apple Store in Pakistan.

The standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 are expected to arrive in spring 2027 and are not currently available.
In the United States, the starting prices of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are reportedly around $100 higher than those of the corresponding iPhone 17 Pro models. The foldable iPhone Duo is considerably more expensive, with a starting price of $1,999.

Imported smartphones must be registered through Pakistan’s Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) to continue using them on local cellular networks after the applicable grace period.
The actual PTA-related charges are not calculated simply by converting Apple’s US retail price into Pakistani rupees. The final amount can vary based on factors including the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) customs valuation, exchange-rate fluctuations, changes in tax or regulatory policies, and the assessment of an individual device.
How to Check the Exact PTA Tax
Consumers are advised to check the specific IMEI of a device before purchasing an imported iPhone. The phone’s PTA/DIRBS status can be checked through the official DIRBS system, while an IMEI check is also available through SMS service at 8484.
An imported iPhone may initially work on Pakistani cellular networks during the applicable registration grace period. Once that period expires, an unregistered device may lose access to local mobile networks.
The handset can still be used over Wi-Fi, but cellular services will remain unavailable until the device is properly registered.
