Mardan district has established a recycling plant to conserve rainwater and prevent it from going to waste, allowing the collected water to be treated and reused for various purposes.
The Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM) has set up a dedicated plant for rainwater recycling as part of an effort to promote the efficient use of available water resources.
Under the initiative, collected rainwater will be treated and reused for non-potable purposes, including cleaning activities. The water will also be used in the production of organic fertiliser.
According to WSSCM, a practical system for collecting, storing and recycling rainwater has been put into operation. The system is aimed at reducing water wastage and making the collected water available for different needs.
The company said the initiative primarily seeks to prevent the loss of rainwater and promote the reuse of available water resources.
WSSCM officials said conserving rainwater was particularly important amid concerns over declining groundwater levels, as it could help reduce pressure on existing water resources.
The recycled water will be used for cleaning and other non-drinking purposes. The company also plans to utilise the collected water in the organic fertiliser production process, further increasing its practical use.
