Azma Bukhari Questions Critics Over Maryam Nawaz’s London Visit

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has responded to criticism of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s visit to London, saying those who had spent billions of rupees themselves should be ashamed of making allegations against CM Punjab.

In her post on X, Bukhari said the critics had no moral justification to question Maryam Nawaz’s London visit while they themselves had allegedly spent huge amounts of public money. She was responding to criticism from opponents over the Punjab chief minister’s visit to London.

She defended Maryam Nawaz and rejected allegations surrounding the trip, saying the criticism was politically motivated. Bukhari said those who had previously spent billions of rupees should first explain their own record before raising questions about the chief minister’s visit.

The Punjab government is under criticism from opposition parties over Maryam Nawaz’s foreign visits and expenditure, with political opponents questioning the purpose and cost of such trips. Bukhari, however, maintained that the criticism was unfair and aimed at targeting the provincial government. She said the government was focused on its development agenda and public welfare initiatives despite criticism from its political opponents.
