Unannounced load shedding continues in Peshawar’s Faqirabad subdivision

PESHAWAR: Residents of Peshawar’s Faqirabad subdivision have complained about prolonged and unannounced forced load shedding, saying the power outages have caused severe hardship for households amid hot and humid weather.

Residents said electricity has remained unavailable for around four hours in Dallazak Road, Hamid Colony, Corporation Colony, Faisal Colony and adjoining areas.

According to the residents, urban areas are experiencing eight to 10 hours of load shedding, while outages in suburban areas have reached 16 to 18 hours a day.

The residents said electricity bills in Faqirabad division were being paid regularly and questioned the justification for forced load shedding despite what they described as 100% recovery.

They urged the authorities to immediately end unannounced load shedding, warning that failure to address the issue could lead to protests and road blockades.

The residents also warned that they would besiege the relevant grid station if their demands were not met, holding the concerned department’s officials responsible for any resulting situation.

They appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, senior WAPDA officials, the MNA from NA-32 and the MPA from PK-82 to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the affected areas.
