Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has disconnected the electricity supply to Hayatabad Sports Complex over outstanding dues exceeding Rs8.9 million, disrupting routine operations at the facility.
The power suspension has affected sports activities at the complex, while athletes and thousands of citizens who visit the facility daily are also facing difficulties due to the outage.
The electricity disconnection has raised concerns over the impact of the prolonged power interruption on sports and other public activities at the complex.

To replace the free electricity units currently available to its employees, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has approved fixed monthly cash allowances based on employees pay scales.
According to an office order issued by PESCO, the company’s Board of Directors approved the policy in its 226th meeting held on September 3, 2026. The decision was taken in line with the federal government’s policy regarding the monetisation of free electricity units for employees of power-sector organisations.
Under the new arrangement, PESCO employees will receive monthly cash allowances against their admissible electricity units. The policy will be applicable in PESCO with effect from August 1, 2026, subject to the prescribed terms, conditions and eligibility criteria.
