KP govt completes major investigation against in-service Afghan employees

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has completed its investigation into Afghan nationals employed in provincial government departments and has decided to take the “strictest action” against them.

According to sources, the inquiry found that Afghan nationals had secured government jobs by obtaining Pakistani Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).

The investigation covered employees of various grades across different departments in Peshawar and other districts of the province, including Metropolitan Corporation, Local Government, and Education Department.

Close relatives in Afghanistan or residing in other countries; family members who have sought political asylum abroad; married into Afghan refugee families; officials from different departments have been notified about the findings.

Sources said that after completing legal requirements, the employees found involved will be terminated from service. NADRA has already issued notices to several suspected employees, declaring them “dubious.” Most of them belong to tribal districts, while employees from settled areas have also received notices.

Authorities stated that the action is being taken to ensure transparency and protect government jobs for Pakistani citizens. The KP government has directed department heads to immediately begin the process of removing the identified individuals once due process is completed.
