ISLAMABAD: The federal and provincial governments have introduced a digital pension verification system aimed at making proof-of-life checks easier for pensioners and reducing the risk of interruptions to their payments.
Under the new system, pensioners can complete mandatory verification through biometric and digital methods, reducing the need for repeated visits to banks and government offices.
The system is linked with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and existing pension records. It uses biometric authentication and facial recognition to verify pensioners’ identities and confirm their eligibility.
The digital mechanism replaces the traditional process of submitting physical life certificates and is intended to curb fraudulent claims, duplicate payments and other irregularities in the pension system.
Pensioners can complete the verification remotely through the PakID mobile application. Those unable to use the digital facility can also visit NADRA registration centres or e-Sahulat franchises for verification.
NADRA has also waived the fee for the Proof of Life certificate for pensioners, making the service more accessible.
Officials say the initiative is aimed at simplifying pension verification while strengthening safeguards around pension disbursements. Pensioners have been advised to complete their verification within the prescribed period to avoid any disruption in payments.
