ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties have agreed to form a joint parliamentary front and adopt a unified strategy on political, economic, security and judicial matters.
The decision was taken at the first joint parliamentary meeting attended by opposition leaders and lawmakers. The participants discussed the country’s political and economic situation, law and order, judicial affairs and parliamentary issues.
Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai said the parties had reached consensus despite what he described as a difficult political environment, expressing hope that the alliance would help address the country’s challenges.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman called the development an important step and stressed the need for political stability, improved law and order and dialogue. He also opposed any move to divide provinces and called for the release of political prisoners.
Allama Nasir Abbas raised concerns over law and order and alleged that a Supreme Court order regarding PTI founder Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital had not been implemented.
The opposition leaders pledged to pursue a united strategy in parliament and raise a collective voice on public, political, economic and constitutional issues.
