ISLAMABAD: Travel vlogger and mountaineer Asma Mushtaq has died after successfully summiting Spantik, a 7,027-metre peak in the Karakoram mountain range, during a recent climbing expedition.

Asma was born on February 7, 1992. Known as a passionate mountain lover and adventurer in the mountaineering circles of Pakistan, she was famous for her travel vlogging adventures around the world and her travels and experiences in different parts of the country.

According to sources, she reached the summit of Spantik along with her guide Ali Akbar. Though she seemed healthy after reaching the summit, she started to experience some symptoms that are believed to be related to high altitude sickness while descending from the peak.

Her guide initially tried to revive her; however, she couldn’t be saved.

The expedition agency Karakoram Calling Treks is helping relevant authorities recover her body for the purpose of sending it back to her family members.

Social media platforms have been flooded with messages of sympathy as soon as news of her demise became known. Her friends and admirers have offered prayers for her forgiveness and eternal peace on this Earth.

She was loved for her passion for traveling and experiencing new things such as her favourite places including the mountains and beaches.
