ISLAMABAD: The government has begun the process of transferring former prime minister Imran Khan to a hospital in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives, according to government sources.
The sources said the administration was implementing the court’s order and had consistently taken measures concerning Khan in accordance with the Constitution and the prison manual.
According to the sources, Khan had been provided the facilities prescribed under prison rules during his detention. These included separate accommodation, an air cooler, a bed, an attendant, a personal cook, food, newspapers and books.
The sources further said that medical care and other necessary facilities had also been ensured in accordance with the prison manual.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised over alleged violations of the law by some political elements and social media activists despite written assurances, according to the government sources.
The court has also directed that crowds should not gather outside the hospital and that political demonstrations, publicity stunts and political statements should be avoided.
The authorities are expected to monitor compliance with these directions as Khan’s hospital transfer proceeds. Live broadcasts and activity outside the hospital could potentially raise concerns over adherence to the court’s instructions, the sources said.
The development follows the Supreme Court’s order regarding Khan’s transfer from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment.
