ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that his party stands with public opinion on the question of creating new provinces in the country.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Bilawal said the PPP would support the wishes and views of the people regarding the issue of new provinces.

The statement appears to challenge the perception that the PPP is opposed to the creation of additional provinces.

Bilawal’s remarks also come in line with a recent position attributed to the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), who had said that any decision regarding the creation of new provinces should reflect the will of the people.

The PPP chairman’s statement is expected to add to the ongoing debate over the creation of new provinces and the role of public opinion in determining the country’s administrative structure.

His remarks may also help dispel the impression that the PPP has adopted an outright opposition to the formation of new provinces.
