PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government spent Rs314.15 billion on development projects during the financial year 2025-26, with the largest share coming from the province’s own resources, according to official figures.
Data compiled by the KP Planning and Development Department showed that Rs244.50 billion was spent on development projects in the settled districts, representing the largest portion of the province’s total development expenditure.
Of this amount, Rs191.77 billion was financed through the provincial government’s own resources, while Rs52.72 billion came from foreign assistance.
Under the development programme for the merged districts, the provincial government spent Rs25.80 billion. This included Rs23.02 billion from the government’s own resources and around Rs2.06 billion from external sources.
Rs44.56 billion, on the other hand, was spent on Accelerated Development Programme expenditures, which were financed through provincial and federal government funds.
On the whole, out of the total development expenditure of Rs314.15 billion, Rs259.36 billion was spent using provincial resources, while Rs54.79 billion was financed through foreign resources.
Further, Rs 95.40 billion was released for the development projects of the province, while Rs39.67 billion was spent on development projects of the merged districts.
Amongst the districts, Peshawar stood first in terms of development expenditure, where Rs18.53 billion was spent on development projects during the financial year.
These numbers depict the expenditure pattern of the provincial government on development projects in settled districts, merged districts and province-wide projects during FY2025-26.
