ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a new online portal to help mobile users compare call, SMS and internet packages offered by different telecom operators on a single platform.
According to the PTA, the portal has been added to the Consumer Awareness section of its website and allows users to compare packages offered by major mobile operators, including Jazz, Zong, Ufone and Telenor Pakistan.
The portal provides details about package prices, internet data, call minutes, SMS allowances and other available features, enabling consumers to assess different offers more easily.
A key feature of the new platform is the ability to track changes in package prices over time. Users can compare current prices with historical prices to see how the cost of a particular package has changed over recent months or years.
The feature is expected to help consumers understand pricing trends across different telecom operators and make more informed decisions based on their usage and budgets.
Users who rely heavily on mobile internet can compare data packages, while those who make more calls can assess packages based on available call minutes. Similarly, frequent SMS users can compare offers according to their requirements and affordability.
In the process of aggregating the information from different operators on one platform, the PTA felt that the portal will minimize the effort that consumers have to go through searching for appropriate packages on various websites or mobile applications.
The telecom regulator stated that the program was intended to enhance transparency in the industry and keep the consumers updated on any changes in the price of mobile packages and services.
Informed consumers were likely to make appropriate decisions by taking into account their usage and budget, thereby avoiding unnecessary costs and opting for packages best suited to them.
The portal also provides users with information on recent changes in package prices and features, allowing them to better understand broader pricing trends in Pakistan’s telecom market.
