ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with Police ASPs who returned from training courses in China and Turkey.
In the meeting, the ASPs shared their observations on modern policing, surveillance systems, use of technology and modern equipment, and management of law and order in China and Turkey. The ASPs described foreign training courses as an excellent experience for enhancing professional skills.
The Interior Minister announced that foreign training programs would be made a permanent part of the professional training of police officers and said that a pilot project will be launched to establish a Law Enforcement Investigation Centre on the Chinese model in Islamabad. Detention, investigation, and summary trial will be conducted under one roof in the Law Enforcement Centre.
Mohsin Naqvi said that the centre will enable quick and effective disposal of minor crime cases, and the police system will be made more effective by utilizing successful models of modern policing.
He said that the scope of surveillance will be significantly increased through modern technology and surveillance systems, modern drones will be added to the Aviation Wing of the Ministry of Interior for crime prevention and effective surveillance, and specialized investigation rooms will be established in the National Police Academy.
The Interior Minister said that special attention will be paid to specialized investigation training according to the needs of modern policing, interrogation will be introduced as a specialized subject, modern interrogation techniques based on models of developed countries will be made a part of training, and uniforms compatible with operational requirements will be introduced for the police.
Commandant National Police Academy, DG FIA and relevant officers were also present on the occasion.
