PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will march towards Islamabad on September 27, urging the party’s youth supporters to join what he described as a crucial movement.
Addressing a PTI public gathering in Peshawar, Afridi said the country’s youth were being unfairly criticized by some quarters, adding that he viewed them as “Shaheens” (falcons), a reference to the ideals of national poet Allama Iqbal.
Calling on party workers to mobilize, the chief minister said, “Your leader needs you. We will head to Islamabad on September 27.
Afridi alleged that Pakistan was facing political and economic decline, claiming the country’s economy had deteriorated and criticizing the treatment of former prime minister Imran Khan’s family.
He also questioned the effectiveness of the current political system, maintaining that PTI remained the country’s largest political party despite its founding chairman being imprisoned.
Speaking at the rally, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan accused the authorities of denying the party its electoral mandate and disqualifying its leaders.
He said the party had supported state institutions but had not received fair treatment in return, adding that the current government had failed to deliver on its promises.
Meanwhile, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar urged party workers to remain united, expressing confidence that Imran Khan would be released from prison and return to power through public support.
