LAHORE: Representatives of private schools have urged the Punjab government to shorten the ongoing summer vacation and allow educational institutions to reopen from August 3, 2026, instead of the previously announced reopening date of August 24.
The demand was made during a meeting chaired by Malik Abdul Samad, President of the Private School Solutions of Pakistan, where participants discussed challenges facing private educational institutions, government restrictions and measures to ensure continuity of academic activities.
The representative body of private schools appealed to the provincial government to reduce the duration of the summer break and permit private educational institutions to resume classes earlier than scheduled.
Meeting participants argued that reopening schools on August 3 would help prevent further academic disruption and enable institutions to continue their curriculum and teaching activities without unnecessary delay.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Abdul Samad also urged all unregistered private schools to complete their registration process without delay, emphasizing that only registered institutions complying with legal requirements could continue providing educational services on a permanent basis.
The Punjab government had earlier announced summer vacations for all public and private schools and colleges across the province from May 22 to August 23, 2026, with all educational institutions scheduled to reopen on Monday, August 24, 2026.The private schools’ demand has yet to receive an official response from the Punjab government.
