PESHAWAR: A Sessions Court stenographer was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants in Peshawar’s Fakirabad area late Tuesday night in what police believe to be a suspected targeted killing.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Shaukat, who was serving as a stenographer at the Peshawar Sessions Court.
Officials said the attackers opened fire on Shaukat before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.
A heavy police contingent reached the site shortly after the incident, cordoned off the area and collected forensic evidence as part of the investigation.
Police have launched a search for the suspects and are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby buildings and surrounding areas to establish their identities and trace their movements.
Authorities said the motive behind the killing has yet to be determined, and investigators are examining the case from multiple angles.
Police added that all available resources are being utilized to apprehend the perpetrators, while further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
