PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government here on Wednesday notified new pay scales and an increase in conveyance allowance for provincial government employees.
The provincial Finance Department issued a notification for the implementation of new basic pay scales 2026 for provincial government employees and a 50% increase in conveyance allowance, which will be applicable from July 1, 2026.
These decisions were made under the approval given by the provincial cabinet in the special budget meeting held on June 19, 2026. According to the notifications, the new basic pay scale 2026 has been introduced by merging 15 percent of the ad hoc relief allowances of the year 2022 and 10 percent of the year 2025 into the basic pay.
After this amendment, the basic pay scale of Grade 1, which was earlier Rs 13,550 to Rs 26,450, has now increased to Rs 16,280 to Rs 31,880. The basic pay scale of Grade 5, which was earlier Rs 15,230 to Rs 37,730, has now increased to Rs 18,300 to Rs 45,600. The basic pay scale of Grade 11, which was earlier Rs 18,650 to Rs 57,950, has now increased to Rs 22,410 to Rs 69,810.
Similarly, the basic pay scale of Grade 16, which was earlier Rs 28,010 to Rs 95,870, has now increased to Rs 33,720 to Rs 115,320. The basic pay scale of Grade 17, which was earlier Rs 45,070 to Rs 113,470, has now increased to Rs 54,140 to Rs 136,340. Similarly, the basic pay scale of Grade 22, which was earlier Rs 122,190 to Rs 244,130, has now increased to Rs 146,770 to Rs 293,350.
With the implementation of the new pay scale 2026, the ad hoc allowances for the years 2022 and 2025 have been abolished and a new ad hoc relief allowance of 7% on the current basic pay of the new scale has been approved for all civil employees, including contract and contingent paid staff.
The salaries of the employees will be fixed in the new scale on a point-to-point basis on June 30, 2026, while the annual increment will be applicable on December 1 of every year as per tradition. All employees will have to make a written choice of either the old or the new pay scale within 30 days and in case of non-choice, the new scale will be considered automatically applicable.
According to the notification, the conveyance allowance of all employees from Grade 1 to Grade 20 and above increased by 50 percent. Under which, the allowance of employees of Grade 1 to 4 has been increased from Rs 1,785 to Rs 2,677, of Grade 5 to 10 from Rs 1,932 to Rs 2,898, of Grade 11 to 15 from Rs 2,856 to Rs 4,284 and of Grade 16 to 20 and above from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500 per month.
