MARDAN: Three people, including a child, were injured after the roof of a room collapsed in Saeedabad, Miskeenabad area of Takht Bai amid heavy rainfall, Rescue 1122 said.

According to Rescue 1122, the victims were trapped under the debris when the roof caved in. Following the emergency call, disaster response and medical teams, along with an ambulance, were dispatched to the scene.

Rescue personnel carried out the operation, provided first aid to the injured and shifted them to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM) said its field teams remained deployed despite the ongoing rain to ensure uninterrupted drainage and sanitation operations across the city.

Acting on the directives of Chief Executive Officer Engineer Adil Nawaz, emergency teams have been placed on alert, with special focus on flood-prone hotspots.

WSSCM said drainage channels and storm water drains are being cleared of blockages, while dedicated teams are working to ensure the timely removal of rainwater.

The company added that officers and field staff are continuously monitoring the situation, responding promptly to public complaints and taking measures to prevent water accumulation, facilitate traffic flow and provide uninterrupted services to residents during the ongoing spell of heavy rain.
