NEW DELHI: Police used batons to disperse protesters after members of the youth-led Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) attempted to march toward the Indian Parliament in New Delhi, demanding education reforms and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The party staged a sit-in demonstration at Jantar Mantar, calling for changes to the country’s education system and urging the minister to step down.
According to media reports, Delhi Police made attempts to control the situation where they used a baton charge to control the crowd who was making attempts to move towards the Parliament. Media reports further suggested that there was suspension of internet services in some parts of the city during the protests.
The protests marked efforts by the party to make demands related to education reforms.
At the same time, leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party held discussions with the Health Minister J.P. Nadda, presenting their demands.
In a statement released on social media platform X, the spokesperson of the party said that the minister promised the group that the demands would be taken up by higher authorities.
