BALOCHISTAN: Security forces have conducted an intelligence-based operation on the N-25 National Highway in Balochistan against militants allegedly involved in road blockades and extortion activities, according to a statement issued by security officials.
The operation was carried out in the area between Jhau Cross and Kararo, where security forces received confirmed intelligence about the presence of armed militants. Officials said the group was involved in stopping vehicles, collecting illegal payments from passengers and residents, and disrupting traffic along the important highway.
During the intense exchange of fire, nine militants were killed, while several others were reported injured. Security officials said the operation dealt a major setback to the militant network operating in the area.
The statement added that three Pakistani security personnel lost their lives while fighting the militants, and some others were injured during the operation. The injured personnel were provided immediate medical treatment.
Security forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting citizens, ensuring the safety of major highways, and maintaining peace and stability in Balochistan. Officials said operations against militant groups would continue as part of efforts to safeguard public life and national security.
The N-25, also known as the Quetta–Karachi Highway, is a strategically important route connecting Balochistan with Sindh and serves as a key transportation link for passengers, trade, and local communities. Authorities have repeatedly carried out security operations along the route to prevent militant activities and ensure safe travel.
Following the incident Security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan following the recent incidents in Ziarat and along the N-25 Highway, targeting militants involved in attacks and other security-related incidents.
According to security sources, 38 militants belonging to groups referred to by the military as “Fitna al Hindustan” and “Fitna al Khawarij” have been killed in ongoing operations. Authorities said search and clearance operations remain underway in different parts of the province to locate and apprehend remaining militants.
The sources further stated that security forces are planning additional operations against militant networks operating inside Balochistan. They also alleged that some militant handlers and facilitators are based in Afghanistan, though no independent evidence was provided to support the claim.
Officials reiterated their commitment to continuing intelligence-based operations aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure, securing key highways, and restoring peace in the province. They said further updates would be shared as operations progress.
