PESHAWAR: At least eight people were injured after strong winds and heavy rain caused the collapse of roofs and walls in several parts of Peshawar, rescue officials said on Monday.
According to Rescue 1122, the sudden windstorm and torrential rain triggered multiple incidents across the provincial capital, leaving several people trapped or injured as residential structures sustained damage.
The affected areas included Faqir Killi, Pakha Ghulam, Chughalpura, Shah Alam Bridge and Yousafabad, where roofs and walls of houses reportedly collapsed.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi said emergency medical teams provided first aid to the eight injured at the scene before shifting them to nearby hospitals by ambulance for further treatment.
Rescue personnel and emergency vehicles were deployed to the affected localities, where teams were engaged in clearing debris and carrying out relief and rescue operations.
The incidents came amid forecasts of stormy weather across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with authorities having earlier issued warnings of heavy rainfall and the risk of urban flooding in parts of the province.
