ISLAMABAD: Travel on the Lahore–Islamabad Motorway (M-2) has become more expensive after the National Highway Authority (NHA) announced an increase in toll tax rates.

According to an official notification issued by the NHA, toll charges on the M-2 motorway have been raised by 7 percent, with the new rates coming into effect from July 5, 2026. The revised tariff will remain applicable until April 23, 2027.

As per the authority’s statement, the decision was taken on the basis of a 2014 agreement, which gives the facility of adjusting tolls periodically after a certain time period.

The new toll tax structure is as follows: Cars, jeeps and taxis will be charged Rs 1,430. Wagons have been priced at Rs 2,390, and the toll tax for coasters would stand at Rs 3,350.

Buses would be paying Rs 4,770, while two and three axle trucks would pay Rs 6,210. The toll tax for articulated trucks would be Rs 7,980.

This increased structure will prove costly for travellers who use this motorway to go from Lahore to Islamabad.
