PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched an electronic driving licence, allowing motorists to carry and present their licences digitally through their mobile phones.
The initiative has been introduced in collaboration with the provincial Transport Department, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) and the Dastak digital platform.
As stated in an announcement made by provincial officials, the electronic driving licence is part of the initiatives being taken by the government to modernize its service delivery and utilize technology.
The electronic driving license will be recognized legally by police, government departments and courts of law. Authorities have pointed out that the license will be verifiable through a QR code in just seconds.
It has also been pointed out that people who will make use of the digital license will not need to carry a physical license while traveling.
The electronic driving license is one of the steps in the digital governance scheme of the province.
