PESHAWAR: Security sources reported that a small unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted and brought down in the Mullagori area of Khyber District after it entered Pakistani airspace from across the border.
According to security officials, the drone was launched from the Afghan side and was allegedly operated through a proxy element. The UAV, described as a rudimentary, locally assembled device, was detected during its entry into the area.
Security forces said the drone was neutralised within seconds using electronic warfare and signal-jamming technology, preventing any potential damage or casualties.
Officials added that the aircraft was safely brought down and rendered inoperative shortly after it was jammed by technical countermeasures.
Security sources described the attempt as unsuccessful, stating that it was effectively countered due to the preparedness and rapid response of monitoring systems deployed along the border regions.
No casualties or material damage were reported in the incident. Further assessment is underway to determine the drone’s origin and technical specifications.
