ISLAMABAD: Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik has said that the government is seriously considering purchasing cheap oil and gas from Iran to meet the country’s energy needs at low cost and provide maximum relief to the people.
In a statement to the media, the federal minister emphasized that the government’s top priority is to provide affordable energy to the public. He mentioned that all possible sources are being considered to achieve this goal.
He highlighted the potential benefits of importing oil and gas from Iran at a low price, in line with international laws and diplomatic requirements. This move could help reduce Pakistan’s import bill and positively impact the economy.
Ali Pervez Malik explained that the government is closely monitoring global crude oil prices, the regional situation, and supply chains.
Following the recent ceasefire, there has been a degree of stability in the global energy market; however, prices have not yet fully normalized. Therefore, the government is actively seeking every possible source of affordable energy.
The Federal Minister also noted that Pakistan relies heavily on imported petroleum. If cheaper crude oil or gas becomes available, it could directly benefit both the country’s economy and its consumers.
He expressed optimism that further improvements in the regional situation could lead to new opportunities for Pakistan in the energy sector.
