ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has indicated that petrol prices are likely to be reduced, saying the government intends to pass on the benefits of lower international oil prices directly to consumers.
Speaking on a private television program, the minister said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed the government to ensure that any decline in global petroleum prices translates into relief for the public.
“God willing, petrol prices will come down,” Chaudhry said, adding that a reduction in fuel prices would have a positive impact on the overall cost of living by lowering transportation and other related expenses.
His remarks come as consumers await the government’s next review of petroleum prices amid fluctuations in the international oil market.
