KOHISTAN: Residents of Kohistan staged a protest on Friday against a proposal to incorporate Choor Valley and Balija Valley into Allai district, briefly blocking the Karakoram Highway before dispersing peacefully.

The demonstration was held at Green Chowk in Kamila Bazaar, where protesters blocked traffic and voiced opposition to the proposed administrative changes. They warned that any attempt to include areas of Kolai-Palas in Allai district would be strongly resisted.

In his speech during the protest, Advocate Rozi Khan accused members of the Khanan and Gilal tribes from Allai of firing in the border areas and tried to seize parts of Kohistan by force. The allegations made by him could not be verified independently.

The protestors complained about the inefficiency of the government in addressing the issue and demanded that the current boundaries of Kolai-Palas be left unaltered.

Local people and tribal elders who joined the protest and called for the withdrawal of the suggestion in order to preserve the administrative boundaries of the region.

After the negotiations, the protestors lifted the road blockage and the Karakoram Highway resumed its functioning.

Advocate Rozi Khan appealed to the people of Kohistan to unite and work together in protecting their constitutional and administrative rights.
