The Swedish government has introduced a special residence permit aimed at attracting talented and highly educated individuals from non-EU countries. This initiative has opened new employment and business opportunities for Pakistani citizens in Europe.
The program, known as the High Talent Visa, aims to draw skilled individuals from around the world who wish to join the Swedish labor market based on their outstanding educational qualifications and professional abilities.
Under this visa program, selected candidates are granted a maximum of nine months to travel to Sweden to seek employment or explore business possibilities.
To apply for this program, candidates must be outside Sweden and hold an educational qualification equivalent to the Swedish second-cycle education standard.
This standard includes a Master’s degree (with sixty or one hundred and twenty credit hours), MPhil, PhD, or any equivalent postgraduate professional degree. Qualifications from recognized Pakistani educational institutions will also be accepted if they meet this criterion.
In addition to the necessary educational qualifications, candidates must demonstrate their financial capability to support themselves during their stay in Sweden. Specifically, applicants need to have a bank account showing a minimum of 13,000 Swedish kronor per month, totaling 117,000 Swedish kronor for the entire nine-month period.
They must also have additional funds for return travel expenses and comprehensive health insurance that covers both emergency and routine medical costs.
According to the Swedish Migration Agency, the application fee for this program is set at 2,200 Swedish kronor. All required documents, including passports, degrees, bank statements, and insurance papers, can be submitted through the online portal.
Officials state that decisions on complete and correctly filled applications are typically made within seven months. However, candidates cannot begin working immediately upon receiving this visa.
If they secure employment, they must apply separately for a standard work permit or a self-employed visa to start a business.
