The federal government has announced good news for government employees. It has decided to permanently incorporate two old ad hoc allowances into the basic pay, providing significant relief to employees affected by inflation.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the 15 percent ad hoc relief allowance from 2022 and the 10 percent ad hoc allowance from 2025 have now become a regular part of the basic pay. This change will notably increase salaries, pensions, and other benefits.
The direct benefit of this decision is that as the basic pay increases, the amounts for house rent, pensions, and other allowances will also automatically rise in the future.
Additionally, the government has approved a 50 percent increase in the conveyance allowance (travel allowance) for government employees due to the rising prices of petroleum products and travel expenses.
The Ministry of Finance states that the goal of these measures is to improve the standard of living for employees by shielding them from economic hardships and the effects of inflation.
