PESHAWAR: Former Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi lost his life in a car accident on Motorway M-1, authorities confirmed.

According to the motorway police, the accident occurred near the Colonel Sher Khan Interchange while Afridi was traveling from Islamabad to Peshawar. Initial reports suggest that a mechanical fault in the vehicle may have caused the crash.

The motorway police stated that Afridi’s driver sustained injuries in the incident, while Afridi himself was pronounced dead at the scene.

Taj Afridi, a prominent political figure from the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), served as a member of the Senate of Pakistan and remained active in provincial politics.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident, and further details, including funeral arrangements, are awaited.
