CHITRAL: The much-awaited Polo Festival has kicked off in Chitral, featuring exhilarating matches at one of the highest polo grounds in the world. The three-day festival saw the participation of teams from Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan, drawing crowds of both local and international tourists.

The inauguration of this festival witnessed the presence of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi as the chief guest, who made it clear that the event will prove to be instrumental in boosting tourism in the region. “Our number one priority is tourism in the region,” the governor told the participants in his speech. The meeting with federal officials and NHA officials will be held in order to provide roads and facilities to tourists.

Apart from that, special assistant to the prime minister Malik Nadeem Iqbal and information minister Shafi Jan were also present at the opening ceremony.

The famous festival is renowned not only for its competitive spirit but also for providing an opportunity to visitors to experience the unique culture of the region through sports. This event witnessed the arrival of tourists from different parts of Pakistan as well as foreign tourists.

Pakistan wins major International Football title against Afghanistan after 74 Years

Earlier, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan 0-2 in the final of the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament played in Mali to win the title.

With this victory, Pakistan won a senior men’s international final for the first time since the 1991 South Asian Games. Earlier, Pakistan had won the gold medal by defeating the Maldives 0-2.

Moreover, this is Pakistan’s first regular international title since the 1952 Asian Quadrangle Football Tournament, in which Pakistan and India were declared joint champions. In the final played at the National Football Stadium, Mali on Wednesday, the Pakistani team maintained a strong grip on the game from the start and kept possession of the ball for most of the time.
