PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government after Pakhtun digital report clarified that its Panah Gah (shelter home) project was not being discontinued and that notices issued to employees were part of a routine legal and administrative process rather than termination orders.

Responding to a report by Pakhtun Digital regarding the alleged closure of shelter homes and notices served to staff, KP government spokesperson Shafi Jan said employees had not been dismissed. Instead, advance notices were issued in accordance with the project’s policy requirements.

He explained that the Panah Gah project is currently operating under an Annual Development Programme (ADP) scheme, which is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2026.

Recommendations for extending the project have already been forwarded to the Planning and Development (P&D) Department for approval.

According to the spokesperson, project rules require employees to be notified one month before the expiry of the scheme’s tenure. He said the notices were therefore a legal and administrative obligation and should not be construed as layoffs.

He expressed confidence that the project’s extension would be approved, adding that the notices would be withdrawn once the extension is granted.

He said employees would continue their services after the project’s tenure is extended.
