PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan challenged claims by former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur that he has the backing of 30 party members, urging him to disclose their names.

During a talk show on SAMAA TV, Shafi Jan said there is no tension within the party and that CM Sohail Afridi remains in his “comfort zone.” He added that three to four party members have not been in contact and emphasized that any claims of support should be substantiated.

“Ali Amin Gandapur is claiming the support of 30 members; he should provide the names,” Shafi Jan stated.

Shafi Jan provided details about the parliamentary party meeting, saying that 75 members were present while 17 were absent. Among the absentees, five are abroad, three are on Hajj, and two are in South Africa. He praised the meeting for being conducted in a “cordial and positive manner.”

He stressed that no unelected representative is part of the KP cabinet, and reaffirmed that any party member who deviates from the founder PTI’s track risks ending their political career. Shafi Jan cited examples of leaders who separated from the founder PTI and faded from the political landscape, while those who remained loyal continue to hold positions.

Shafi Jan pointed out that Ali Amin Gandapur hasn’t been active since leaving the chief minister’s office. In fact, Gandapur has only joined one sit-in. Shafi stressed that their focus is on running the government and freeing the PTI founder. They’ve been doing protests, long marches, and submitting court petitions.

Shafi ended by saying they plan to meet with the PTI founder about the budget. But if that’s blocked, they’ll discuss it officially within the party.
